Obituary

Mrs. Shirley Marie Bailey Thacker, 87, of Cartersville, Georgia, formerly of Calhoun, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022, at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia.

Mrs. Thacker was born in Calhoun, Georgia, on May 18, 1935, the daughter of the late James Bunyan Bailey and Norma Agnes Holloway Bailey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jantsen Hyde and Jamon Ray. She received her General Education Diploma and was a graduate of Coosa Valley Technical College in Rome, Georgia, with a certificate degree in Clerical Studies.

Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Parker and Jeni Hyde, both of Cartersville; one son, Alan Matthews of Cartersville; grandchildren, Jessica Matthews, Alexis Hyde, and Chesney Hyde; great-grandchildren, Taelor Hyde, and Micah Hyde; one sister, Jean Holbrook; one brother, James “Buck” Bailey along with nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The funeral service for Mrs. Shirley Marie Bailey Thacker will be conducted Monday, November 28th at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Corey Barnette officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers are John Bailey, James Bailey, Jake Williams, Jeremy Baxter, Stan Chadwick, and Chesney Hyde.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 28th, from 11:00 AM until the service hour at 1:00 PM.
