Mrs. Ruby Lee “Sluder” Ratcliff, 96, of Ranger, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
Mrs. Ratcliff was born in Gilmer County, Georgia on June 27, 1926, the daughter of the late Rev. L.C. Sluder and Emma Hollofield Sluder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. “Lewis” Ratcliff; siblings, Ernest Sluder, Vesta Hammomtree, Clyde Sluder, Hazel Ratcliff, Clem Sluder, Lona Fowler, Jordon Sluder, Jeanette Sluder, Jim Sluder, and Geneva Brown.
Mrs. Ratcliff had lived in the Ranger community most of her life and was a licensed cosmetologist and owned and operated Ruby’s Beauty Shop from 1960 until 2000. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Margarette Ratcliff Williams and her husband Edwin; one son, James Ratcliff and Beth Jobe; grandchildren, Tonya (Jim) Jarrett, Buddy (Deanna) Williams, James Ratcliff II, Margarette Ratcliff, and Richard Rapstine; great-grandchildren, Samuel Williams, Jaxon White, Nolan Gonzalez, and Ruby Gonzalez. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives along with two very special friends, Vivian Ralston and Keith Ralston.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Ruby Lee “Sluder” Ratcliff will be held on Monday, September 19th at 4:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Eddie Brannon officiating. Pallbearers serving include, Charles Sluder, Chris Ratcliff, Buddy Williams, Jaxon White, Samuel Williams, Calvin Watts, and, Richard Rapstine. She will be buried beside her husband at Hopewell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 19th from 3:00 PM until the hour of the service at 4:00 PM.
