A Memorial Service for Mr. Robert Earl Van Vlake, 81, of Alexander City, will be Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Dr. Jether Cochran and Alan Holcomb will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Van Vlake passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the University of Alabama Hospital (Birmingham). He was born on March 17, 1941, in Sheldon, South Carolina to the late Gilbert Earl Van Blake and Gladys Wooten Van Vlake. He was an active member of Freedom Baptist Church in Calhoun, Georgia. Robert was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to sing karaoke.
He is survived by his wife, Robbie Scott Van Vlake; son, Jeff Van Vlake (Dana); stepsons, Steve Bolt (Deanna), Scott Bolt, and Shane Bolt; grandchildren, Jared Van Vlake, Brock Van Vlake, Lexie Van Vlake, Joshua Bolt, Kayla Bolt, Larry Bolt, Alice Marie Bolt, Elijah Bolt; great-grandchildren, Jaci Bolt, Arianna Bolt; sister, Patsy Crider; brothers-in-law, Jerry Scott (Janet), Gene Scott (Ruth); nephews and nieces, Keith Scott, Kevin Scott, Regina Robinson, Ronna Blake, Hayley Ray, Jeremy Scott, and special friends, Alan Holcomb (Angie), Dempsey Wright (Marie), Jim and Vicki Warren, Sam and Elon McCleskey and many other family and friends.
The family and friends will also be holding a memorial service at the Elk’s Lodge in Calhoun, Georgia on Sunday, May 15, 2022, beginning at 2:00 pm (Eastern time zone).
