Rex O'Neal Meadows

December 31, 1932 ~ June 27, 2021 (age 88)


Mr. Rex O’Neal Meadows, 88, of Calhoun, died Sunday June 27, 2021 at Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome.

Rex was born in Shannon, Georgia on December 31, 1932, son of the late Rembert Miles Meadows and Pauline Holmes Meadows. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Gunner Michael Bagley, three sisters, Sue Meadows McBee, Betty Meadows Hill, Jackie Meadows Williams; brothers, Sandy Meadows and Lance Meadows. He was a graduate of Calhoun High School and an avid Jacket fan. After high school he was inducted into the U.S. Navy on January 4, 1951 and was discharged on November 19, 1954, he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Metal. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Inland of Rome for 30 plus years as heavy equipment operator, his passion was spending time with his family and growing his prized tomatoes to give to his family and friends, he enjoyed camping, especially at West Point Lake where he would prepare and smoke Boston Butts just to give away to his many friends that he had met throughout the years there.

Survivors include his daughters, Connie (Vic) Bohannon and Cinnamon Bagley; son, Greg (Angie) Meadows; grandchildren, Cody (Laura) Guess, Jacob Meadows, Caitlyn Bohannon, Austin Meadows, Joseph Bagley, Gracyn Bagley; Great-grandchildren, Braylon Guess and Allie Guess along with nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A private funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with funeral honors accorded by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery.

Joseph Ryan Bagley will serve as honorary escort.
