Rev. Larry A. Hogan, 78, a well-known pastor who resided in the Plainview Community, died Sunday, October 31, 2021. He was born in Bartow County on November 21, 1942, to the late Paul Lee Hogan and Velma Goss Hogan. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son in 2012, Mark Anthony Hogan, and his brother, Wyndal Hogan.
Rev. Hogan pastored at Dewey Baptist Church in White, GA, Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Adairsville, GA, Riverview Baptist Church in Calhoun, GA, Antioch Baptist Church in Calhoun, GA. Agape Baptist Church in Calhoun, GA, Young Street Baptist Church in Cartersville, GA, Liberty Baptist Church in Ranger, GA, Bethlehem Baptist Church in Resaca, GA., Bethel Baptist Church in Calhoun, GA., Damascus Baptist Church in Calhoun, GA., and Oostanaula Baptist Church in Calhoun, GA. Prior to retirement, he was a poultry farmer and was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sara Lou Frix Hogan; daughter, Lynn Hogan Hendrix; daughter-in-law, Pam Sills and her husband Neal; siblings, Dale Hogan (Jane) and Linda Dockery; grandchildren, Will Hogan, and Connor Hogan. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at 2:00 PM from Cedar Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Hibberts and Rev. Gary Hibberts officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Greg Free officiating. Pallbearers are Rusty Hogan, Paul Parker, Shane West, Jason Hogan, Tyler Hogg, Bailey Hogg, and Brody Fowler. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Davis, Larry Crump, Winford Casey, Crawford Greeson, Scott Templeton, Shane McDougle, Matt Hibberts.
