Obituary

Willis "Pawpaw" Postell, 79, of the Resaca Community, died on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Advent Gordon Hospital from complications of Covid-19. He was born on July 2, 1942, in Fannin County, Georgia to the late William Fred and Janie Bell Payne Postell. He was preceded in death by his children, Ricky Howard Postell and Tammy Marie Welch; siblings, Avril Postell, Froney (Marvin) Bell Land; sister-in-law, Charlotte Postell.
Willis worked for foam products for 23 years before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his garden. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marie Smith Postell; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery Howard (Pamela) Postell; brother, William Postell; grandchildren, Amber Douglas, Stetson Welch, Carrie Welch, Josh Thacker, and Rose Locklear; great grandchildren, Angel Welch, Montana Welch, Brantley Welch, Jackson Locklear, and Blake Lomax; sister-in-law, Vivian Postell.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral will follow the visitation at 3:00 pm from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Randy Postell and Rev. Delmar Davenport officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery. Pallbearer are, Kevin Smith, Chris Jones, Josh Thacker, Tommy Davenport, David Postell, and Kevin Mulkey. Honorary pallbearers are, Alex Locklear, Wade Baldwin, Craig Smith, and Gene Land.
