William Eugene Edwards

William Eugene (Gene) Edwards, age 83, of Calhoun, passed peacefully at his home on the morning of November 6, 2026, culminating several months of declining health.

Gene was born in Calhoun on October 13, 1943. He graduated from Calhoun High in 1961, and retired from Mannington Industries after 36 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Silas and Peggy Galloway Edwards, and a sister, Betty Bates.

Gene is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margie Williams Edwards; son Darryl Edwards (Ellen); daughter Donna Edwards Rogers (Jeff); grandson Hayden Edwards (Toni); granddaughter Bailey Edwards Knight (Hunter); and great grandchildren Camden, Drayson, Vivian, and Vincent.

He is also survived by a sister, Deborah Huckaby; sister in law Anne Franklin; brothers in law Jimmy Williams (Annette) and Fred Williams (Carla), and Walter Bates, along with many nieces and nephews.

Gene will be laid to rest at Fain Cemetery after a private family graveside service, officiated by Rev. Brandon Bishop.

The family graciously requests no flowers. In honor and memory of him, donations can be made to New Town Baptist Church.
