William E. Knighton

Obituary

William E. Knighton, 90, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022. He was born in Fairfield, Alabama, on February 21, 1932, to the late Guy and Nell Knighton. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Robinson; brother, Guy Vernon Knighton Jr.; and sister, Virginia Russo.
William is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Jane Knighton; daughter and sons-in-law, Sharon and Dr. Joe Joyave, Wayne Robinson; grandchildren, Kacy Robinson (Brett Newman), Janey Pegoda (Jake), Joseph Joyave (Sarah), Adam Joyave (Nicole), Sara Cooley (Vince), Anna Kelley (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Laughlin Pegoda, Jake Pegoda, Gunnar Pegoda, Grey Robinson Newman, Grace Joyave, Ruth Joyave, Jack Joyave, James Joyave, Stella Joyave, Lucas Joyave, and Vincent Cooley. Several nieces and nephews in Alabama, Texas, and Georgia also survive.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 8, 2022, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 noon at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow the visitation on Thursday at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons, with Dr. Joe Joyave and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers are Vince Cooley, Ryan Kelley, Joseph W. Joyave, John Joyave, and John Daniel Joyave. Lamar Wilson will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimers Association https://www.alz.org
The family would like to thank Gordon Health and Rehab for the love and care they provided during Bills final season of life.
