William 'Doug' Douglas Nicholson

Obituary

Mr. William "Doug" Nicholson, 77, of The Shope Lake Road Community, Rydal, GA, passed away at his residence, Wednesday, October 5, 2022.
Mr. Nicholson was born in Albertville, Alabama on March 15, 1945, the son of the late David and Evelyn Dollar Nicholson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nicholdon was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Brian Nicholson in 1968 and a brother, Gerron Nicholson in 2010, and a grandson, Blake Bennett in 2021. Prior to retirement, he was employed with Shaw Industries as a Hyster operator. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having attained the rank, of Airman Third Class having served as an Administrative Specialist, and was granted an honorable discharge in 1964.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Potts Nicholson to whom he was married for 58 years, one daughter, Laura (Dwayne) Bennett; one son, Matt (Christy) Nicholson; one sister, Elinda Hicks; four grandchildren, Adam Bennett, Brandi Purkey, Jadyn Nicholson, Colton Bennett; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Bennett; along with other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. William "Doug" Nicholson will be conducted on Sunday, October 9th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Bruce Potts and Rev. George Gray officiating. Pallbearers serving will include Bruce Potts, John David Potts, Joseph Potts, Trampus Terry, Dylan Terry, Adam Bennett, Wayne Bennett, Chase Stanley, DeWayne Cox and Chad Hicks.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October, 8th between the hours or 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
