William Clyde 'Jr' Davis

Obituary

Mr. William Clyde Davis Jr., better known as (Jr), of the Red Bud Community, passed
away at his residence on Saturday, July 10, 2021 while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Gordon County on June 8, 1933, son of the late William Clyde Davis Sr
and Ruby Parker Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife,
Thelma Payne Davis to whom he was married for 48 years; his first wife, Margaret
Ovalee Davis; grandson, Ronald Blake Dodd; Great-great-granddaughter, Lainee Adora
Ivey; sons-in-law, Gerald Jones and Eddie Patton; sisters, Betty Davis, Norma Jean
Stone, Faye Addy; brothers, Johnny, Lamar, Jerry and Ray Davis.
He and his late wife, Thelma were proud owners of a cattle farm and Jr. was known by
his peers as a great cattleman. He enjoyed gardening and took pride in maintaining a
beautiful farm and he dearly loved his family. Prior to his retirement he was employed
by Dixie Bell Mills and Carriage Industries.
Survivors include a son, Lamar Thomas (Patricia), five daughters, Patricia Silvers
(Calvin), Sheila Jones, Diane Wheeler (Larry), Rita Patton, Darlene Bearden (Mike),.
Twelve grandchildren, Stephanie Thomas, Allison Thomas, Vanessa Thomas, Monica
Hiles, Charma Cochran, Brandon Bearden, Michael Silvers, Emily Parsons, Sonya
Coleman, Jason Richmond, Cory Patton, and Holli Nix; Thirty great grandchildren,
Morgan Wheeler, Bryson Peace, Gavyn Peace, Presley Hiles, Penelope
Hiles, Loren Hiles, Lance Hiles, Maggie McBrayer, Andrew Cochran, Ruth Dodd,
Jazman Hall, Cali Bearden, Victoria Bearden, River Bearden, Anthony Silvers, Caleb
Silvers, Addie Parsons, Sam Parsons, Sully Parsons, Suzanne Hammontree, Sophia
Hammontree, Eric Coleman, Corey Coleman, Macaela Richmond Ivey, Aislynn
Richmond, Viridis Richmond, Raiden Sexton-Patton, Haydn Townsend, Jake
Townsend; four great-great-grandchildren: Waylon Smithey, Weston Smithey, Aysia
Hiles and Taylon Blake Wheeler; two sisters, Joyce Kirby, Nina Bailey; brother L.C.
Davis..
The family would like to thank his special caregivers, Debra Smith, Will and Susan
Smithey and their sons Waylon and Weston.
Funeral services for Mr. William Clyde Davis Jr. will be held Wednesday, July 14th at
1:00 PM from Rock Bridge Community Church with Lamar Thomas, Eddie Brannon and
Tim Erwin officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include,
Corey Patton, Will Smithey, Jason Richmond, Greg Davis, Aaron Parsons and Anthony
Hiles. Honorary pallbearers include, Louie Watkins, Kent French, Mark Lewis and Brett
Cochran.
Mr. Davis body will be placed in state at Rockbridge Community Church Wednesday to
lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 13th at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home
between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
