Bill Plancon, 82, of Calhoun, GA made a peaceful transition to his heavenly home on September 15, 2023.
He was born in Bridgeport, CT to the late Kenneth, Sr. and Ruth Plancon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Flip Plancon; sister, Diane Wyckoff; and his children’s mother, Cindy Plancon.
Survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Marlene Plancon; son, Jake (Krissy) Plancon; daughters, Cherise (Sean) Milburn and Sarah (Evan) Green;
grandchildren, Sara and Ryan Milburn, Charlotte and Cooper Green; bonus children, Michael (Missy) Owen and Drena (Al) Ferranti; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
As a young man he loved the coast and sailing. Bill was a veteran serving in the United States Army and reserves. Over the years he faced many health issues and embraced each challenge with vigor. He loved to read and listen to Christian music.
His successful career was devoted to the development and end use of packaging products for the food industry. He jokingly called himself “a greasy, slimy, peddler”. Retiring in 2011, the industry gave him opportunities to live in CT, OH, WI, IL, and Carrollton, GA. The pursuit of supplies and products took him many times to Korea, China, Mexico and South America.
Like a shining light, his colorful personality, laughter and stories made an impact on friends and loved ones. Bill had a lifetime love of hot rods and cars. He was a founding member of the Golden City Cruisers car club of Villa Rica, GA.
A memorial service to honor Bill Plancon’s life will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from Bethesda Baptist Church, 146 Bethesda Church Road NE, Calhoun, GA at 1:00 PM with Rev. Wesley Hunt officiating.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at the church on Saturday.
