Obituary

Mrs. Willene Henson Edwards, 82, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away Tuesday evening at AdventHealth Gordon following a heart attack.
Mrs. Edwards was born in Gordon County, Georgia, on May 17, 1940, the daughter of the late Luther Philip and Evie Elizabeth Disharoon Henson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnny Lee Edwards, in 2003. She was a graduate of Red Bud School and has been an employee of Gordon County Schools since 1983 as a school nutritionist with her recent position at Red Bud Middle School Cafeteria. She loved what she did especially being around all the students and staff. Although her and her husband Johnny never had biological children, they considered Richard and Michael Fuquea as their own and their children as their Godchildren.
Survivors include Michael (Christi) Fuquea and Richard (Nicole) Fuquea; Great nieces and nephews, Maggie and Carter Fuquea, Holley and Alli Long; sister, Gail (Charles) McStotts and brother, Gary Henson, along with her very good friends, James, and Susan Hughes.
Funeral services for Mrs. Willene Henson Edwards will be conducted Saturday, November 19th at 1:00 PM from Mount Olive Baptist Church with Rev(s) Winford Casey and Ronnie Wells officiating. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers serving will include Brandon Coggins, Jared Smith, Andrew Miller, Daniel Belvin, Justin Goforth, and Larry Long.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 19th, between the hours of 11:00 PM and 1:00 PM at Mount Olive Baptist Church
