Obituary

Werner Stockman was born on October 15, 1954 in Crailsheim, Germany. Following an extended illness, Werner departed his earthly home at 12:15 a.m. on January 1, 2022, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He was surrounded by those whom he loved the most.
Werner came to the United States at the age of six and became a naturalized citizen. He graduated from East Lansing High School in East Lansing, Michigan in 1973. Werner loved his country, and he proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. He served as a communications specialist in the 73rd Signal Battalion from 1973 to 1976. Werner received an associate degree in electronics technology in 1974.
After his military service, Werner continued with his career in electronics and worked for several electronic companies, including General Electric. Werner moved to Calhoun in 1981. That same year, he opened his own company, Southern Electronics. He became a local fixture in the Calhoun-Gordon County community where he resided until his death.
Werner never met a stranger and was known for his compassion toward others. His kindness and laughter were contagious, and he was an eternal optimist. Werner always had a ready smile and appreciated the beauty of the people and world around him. Werner was often seen around Calhoun with his beloved beagle, Scarlett, by his side.
Werner was a supporter of the arts. He enjoyed attending operas and musicals, whether at Calhoun High School, The Tivoli, Harris Arts Center, or some other venue. He was also an avid comic book and toy collector. Loved by many children, he was affectionately known as the "toy man."
Werner is survived by his wife and best friend, LeAnna Gail Wade. He is also survived by their three children, Katelynn Nonni Lenora Stockman, and her fianc Robert Melville; Kathrynn Naomi Stockman, and her fianc Josh Cochran; and Nathaniel Alexander Stockman. Werner is also survived by his father, Herbert Stockman; a brother, Herb Stockman and sister-in-law, Nancy Stockman; father-in-law, Ricky Wade; mother-in-law, Kathy Wilson; a niece, Samantha Stockman; a grandson, Seth Arthur; a great-grandson, Nicholas; and aunts, uncles, and cousins. Werner is also survived by his beloved beagle, Scarlett.
Werner was preceded in death by his mother, Hilde Stockman, and his grandparents.

Visitation will be held at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m.
