Obituary

Waymon Hoyt (Doc) Dutton, 92, of the Scottsville Community, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at The Fountains of Calhoun following several months of declining health. He was born on July 7, 1929, in Calhoun, Georgia, to the late Hoyt and Bertha Kay Dutton. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Juanita Lynn Dutton; brothers, JD Dutton and Royce Dutton; sister, Barbara Evans.
Doc was a lifelong member of Erwin Hill Church of God, where he taught Sunday school for several years. He served 20 years in the National Guard Army as a Corporal/ Sharpshooter. He was employed by Trend Mills for over 20 years and Fafnir Bearing, before retiring in 1991. He loved camping and fishing with his family. Doc also enjoyed gardening and providing for his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Betty Jean King Dutton; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam (Gary) Fowler and Kris (Patrick) Reece; grandchildren, Zack (Stacy) Grantham and Emily Reece; great-grandchildren, Cayden, Carson, and Callie Grantham; several nieces and nephews also survive.
On Sunday, May 22, 2022, the family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral will be conducted on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 3:00 pm from Erwin Hill Church of God, with Rev. Daron Henson, Dr. James Shope, and Rev. Jeff Dutton officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with Rev. Sean Belcher officiating. Pallbearers are, Zack Grantham, Jeremy Dutton, Gary Dutton, Steve King, Mike Wofford, and Sammy Brown.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at The Fountains in Calhoun and Helping Hearts Home Care.
