Mr. Vernon B. Lewis, 93, of Calhoun, Georgia, entered the presence of his Lord & Savior on Friday, May 17, 2024, at his residence following a period of declining health.

Mr. Lewis was born in Gordon County on February 8, 1931, the son of the late Fain Cleveland Lewis and Annie Irene Moss Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Johns Lewis; children, Grover, Katherine, and Harvey Lewis; sisters, Vera Stewart, Mildred Strickland, Dena Underwood, Vonnie Truitt, and Irene Mooneyham; brothers, Troy, Charles, Max, Ralph, Herman, and Eugene Lewis. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathie Hartley, Barbara (Silas) Foster, Emma Lewis, Bonnie (Anthony) Jackson, Bertha (Cameron) Poarch, and, Melba (Jeff) Hall; grandchildren, Caleb Hartley, Paul Foster, Jesse Foster, Titus Foster, Tabitha Foster, Naomi Foster, Joseph Foster, Silvanus Foster, Daniel & Sha Lewis, Megan & Matt Ledford, Alisha & Ben Cowan, Dakota Jackson, Siera & Aaron Patterson, Brandon Scoggins, Savannah Scoggins, Leelu & Robert Bryant, and Leroy Hall; eighteen great-grandchildren, sister, Betty Whitfield; sisters-in-law, Betty Lou Lewis and Louise Greeson Lewis; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are Paul Foster, Jesse Foster, Joseph Foster, Dakota Jackson, Brandon Scoggins, and Aaron Patterson. Honorary pallbearers are Caleb Hartley, Daniel Lewis, Titus Foster, Silvanus Foster, and Leroy Hall.
