Obituary
Mr. Vernon Edward Talley, 79, of Calhoun, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Calhoun Health Care and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Talley was born in Gordon County, Georgia on March 24, 1943, son of the late Chester and Maude Massingill Talley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Howard Talley; his sister and brother-in-law, Ruby Whaley and Dido Whaley. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Dalton Supply for 34 years and later was employed by Santek/Republican Waste at the Dews Pond Collection site. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as an ordained deacon for 45 years.
Survivors include his loving wife, Martha Tate Talley to whom he was married 56 years; three sons, Randall (Connie) Talley, Rodney (Sherry) Talley, and Kevin (Amber) Talley; sisters, Geneva (Don) Klotz, Gwen Harris; brothers, Clayton (Doris) Talley, Kenneth (Sandi) Talley; grandchildren, Jordan and Christina Talley, Noah Talley (Diana), Brooke and Chase Green and Brianna Talley; sister-in-law, Marie Talley; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Vernon Edward Talley will be conducted on Tuesday, September 28th at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Matilla, Rev. Bobby Green, and Rev. Delmar Davenport officiating. Music will be arranged by the Melody Singers. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include, Gabriel Talley, Wally Talley, Joe Talley, Adam Talley, Jimmy Faulkenberry, Billy Talley, Dennis Talley, Keith Talley, and Tom Pickel. Honorary pallbearers serving will include Bill Wheat, Gene Redwine, Tommy Davenport, Tom Hicks, Bill Wilson, Lamar Long, Joe Ellis, Porter Evans, Roger Thomas, Alvin Bailey, Jeff Watson, Mike Muse, David Albright, Gary Fuquea, Jan Greeson, Bobby Banks, Curtis Wilson, Jr. Redwine.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 27th between the hours of 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home.
