Mrs. Vera I. Hibberts age 79 of Gordon County passed away Tuesday March 20, 2007 at her residence. She was born in Fyffe, Alabama on April 27, 1927 daughter of the late Marion and Julia Lingerfelt Thomas. Mrs. Hibberts was a member of Plainview Baptist Church. She loved flowers, gardening, quilting and traveling especially to Savannah, Georgia.

Mrs. Hibberts was preceded in death by her husband James Robert Hibberts, two brothers; Dewy Thomas and Frank Thomas and by one sister Agnes Kierce.

Survivors include two sons; Larry and Wanda Hibberts and Gary and Sue Hibberts all of Calhoun. Five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Vera Hibberts will be conducted Thursday March 22, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. from the Plainview Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Hogan, Rev. Woody Lee and Rev. G.W. Shaw officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Hibberts will lie in state at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the service. Active pallbearers serving will include Shane Hibberts, Dawayne Hibberts, Matthew Hibberts, Jim Long, Alan Towe, Jason Parker and Phillip Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will include Robert Davis, Dale Hogan, Wilton Baker Jr., Winford Casey, Debbie Gowens, Jerri McDougle, Tammy Greene and nephews. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday after 5:00 p.m.
