Obituary

Tommy 'Adel" Brookshire, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at his home in Ranger, Ga. He was born on June 23, 1940 in Cartersville, GA, to the late Walter and Elsie Brookshire. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Frances Brookshire; son, Ricky Brookshire (Norma); son-in-law, Lon Curtis; brothers, Ed Brookshire, Jimmy Brookshire, William 'Dee' Brookshire (Mildred), Billy Brookshire (Viola); his sisters, Jessie Callahan (Ira), Dorothy Powell (Alton); brothers-in-law, JB McClain and Harold McKissick; and his mother-in-law, Ethel Miller.
He is survived by his children, Steve Brookshire (Teresa), Kenny Brookshire (Debbie), Dena Curtis, Donna Smith (Hal), Jason Brookshire (Charlotte); daughter-in-law, Denise Brookshire; brother, Alton Brookshire; sisters, Cornelia 'Neeter'' McKissick, Virginia Mason {Blake), Edna McClain; his grandchildren, Josh Brookshire (Ashley Evans), Shannon Brookshire, Rachel Brookshire, Ashley Curtis, Kelly McCormack (Cody), Michaela Bennett, Katie Parker, Samuel Presley, Elizabeth (Mark) Strack, Rachel Miles, Derrick Corn, and Dustin Corn; his great-grandchildren, Olivia Bennett, Layton McCormack, Raleigh Parker, Callie Strack, Ellie Strack, Westley Miles, Katelyn Corn, Kelcie Corn, Urijah Corn, and soon to be born, Loni Spears. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Last but not least, he is survived by his loyal dog, Crickett.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed in the textile industry as a truck driver as well as being retired from Fafnir Bearing.
He enjoyed spending time in the woods teaching his children how to hunt, fish, and enjoy God's creation. He knew that the most important things in his life were to be called a loving husband, a loving father and grandfather, a loyal friend and neighbor, but most importantly, a follower of Christ. He was a faithful member of Bethesda Baptist Church.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Homespun Hospice, especially David Alldredge, Lisa Beasley, and Stacy Hensley, his neighbors, his medical providers throughout the years, and Max Brannon and Son's Funeral Home for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Bethesda Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 12:00 Noon, with Rev. Wesley Hunt officiating and Steve Brookshire reading the eulogy. Burial will follow in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Steve Brookshire, Kenny Brookshire, Jason Brookshire, Cody McCormack, Hal Smith, and Josh Brookshire. Honorary pallbearers Tommys grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the senior men adult Sunday School class of Bethesda Baptist Church.
The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of Tommy "Adel" Brookshire.
