SSgt. Thomas “Tom” Leon Sainthill USAF (Ret.) passed on to Glory to be with his Lord and Savior on May 5th, 2026, entering into the joy of the Lord he served so faithfully. Tom was born in Arcadia, FL on May 2nd, 1953, to the late Noel Harcourt and Ola Margie Sainthill. Tom especially enjoyed sharing memories and his love of growing up on his family’s dairy farm where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for simple living. Upon graduation from Desoto High School in 1972, he entered into service with the United States Air Force having served his country proudly for 26 years. During his tenure as an Air Force medic, he served in The Gulf War in both Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. After his retirement from the United States Air Force, he continued his passion for having a servant’s heart by devoting many years as a Paramedic/EMT for Hamilton Healthcare, a role that reflected his compassionate and steady nature. Tom was a beloved member of Heritage Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher and found great joy in studying the Word of God. Grounded in his faith, Tom spent a lifetime sharing the love of Jesus with all who knew him. Tom was a gentle soul, reflecting God’s character through integrity, kindness, and love that glorified God, allowing His light and love to shine round about him. Along with sharing the gospel, Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing. He found happiness in life’s peaceful moments. To his grandchildren, he was known simply as “Poppy”. His grandchildren were especially precious to him and brought him immense joy. Tom cherished his family and never missed an opportunity to cheer them on in whatever sport or endeavor they were involved in.
He is survived by his loving wife, Melba Sainthill; daughters Connie Daily (Jason), Leslie Sainthill (Cathie Larson), Sally Sainthill, and Amanda Chance (Ron); sons Thomas L. Sainthill Jr. (Keona), and Ryan Weaver (Heidi); grandchildren Connor, Kassandra, and Aidan Daily; William and Thomas Sainthill; Colt and Luke Weaver; Jocelyn and Khloe Chance; great-grandchildren Quinn Daily, Hayes and Knox Johnson; sisters Helen Wilson (Ralph), Thelma Sainthill, Joann Doran (Joe), Paulette Reed (Kenny Clemons), and a very special sister in-law and brother-in-law Debbie and Mark Dunn who were a constant source of support and friendship.
