Obituary

Thomas "Tom" Manning, 19, of Waleska, Georgia passed away Monday, November 21, 2022. He was born on May 31, 2003, in Dekalb Co, Alabama to Dennis Manning and Leah Sharp Ozment. He is survived by his mother, Leah Sharp Ozment; Dewayne Shropshire, who filled the role of father for Thomas; brother, Hunter (Savannah) Willbanks. Aunts, Sally (Shaun) Wheat and Sandy Sharp; niece and nephew, Laney and Fisher Willbanks; cousins, Emily Wheat, Maggie (Matthew) Young, and Patrick Coots; god parents, who Thomas often referred to when he was young as his "fairy godparents", Tim and Teresa Sauls.

Thomas leaves behind his girlfriend and the love of his life, Julie Reyes. They were each other's first love, their relationship defines what true love is and was the kind that would have lasted a lifetime.
He was fortunate to have also had a basketball mentor, who later became a brother, Justin Zachary. This relationship changed Thomas into a confident and motivated young man who could accomplish anything he set his mind to. Thomas was very fond of Justins wife, Joscelyn, and their daughter Zara.
For the ones who knew Thomas, he was very specific about the people that he allowed in his circle. These young men, who were like brothers to him, are: Jacob White, Orry Darnell, Bryson Dowdy, Murray Somers and Lewis Hernandez.
Thomas left this world a hero, having donated his organs and leaving a lasting impact that will affect many families for generations to come, as they were given the gift of life. A virtual tribute in honor of Thomass gift can be posted at the following link:

Thomas was not an ordinary 19-year-old. He was a loving, caring, generous and compassionate person who loved all regardless of their race, ethnicity, or culture. Thomas never failed to light up a room as he walked in. Thomas made an impact on many lives through late night conversations, gym sessions, and even car rides. He will be missed by all.
A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of Thomas will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall. Thomass mother is requesting that those in attendance dress casually as if it were just another day hanging out with Thomas.
