Terry Lewis Whitfield, 71, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 10, 2026, after four years of declining health. He was born on September 26, 1955, to the late Trammell and Betty Lewis Whitfield.
Terry is survived by his daughter, Ashley Smith (Jeremiah); sisters, Gail Fortenberry (Don), Diane Robbins (Steve), Cynthia Proffitt (Tom), and Susan Queen; grandchildren, Brooks Caylor and Joseph Smith; several nieces and nephews.
Terry grew up in Calhoun and as a young child made his profession of faith and was a member of Belmont Baptist Church. He attended the Calhoun City Schools. Terry was a member of the Blue Barracudas Swim and Dive Teams, a member of the 1974 Calhoun High School State Baseball Team, having pitched in the state tournament, and a member of the 1975 Calhoun High School graduating class. After graduating high school Terry enlisted in the Air Force serving two years while being stationed in Texas. He later returned to Calhoun and drove tractor trailers until his retirement.
A private service will be held.
The family would like to give a special thanks for the care he received from Gordon Health and Rehab, Homespun Hospice, Affinis Hospice, and his caregivers Sherri Peardon, Valerie Stafford, Bailey Stafford, and Hailey Stafford.
