Obituary

Mr. Steven Van Coker, 57, of Calhoun passed from this life on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at AdventHealth Gordon following a period of declining health.
Steven was born in Calhoun, Georgia on September 28, 1965, son of Joann Strickland Coker and the late Wison (Bob) Coker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bryan Keith Coker and a sister, Carol Coker Vasquez.
Steve enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved being outdoors. Hunting, golf and wood working were some of his hobbies. His passion was riding his Harley and playing his guitar. Steve was the ultimate caregiver for his Mother. They had a very special bond. He was loved by so many and will never be forgotten. He was a member of New Town Baptist Church and was a Mason.
Survivors include his mother, Joann Strickland Coker; sisters, Kimberly Coker (Mike Dubois), Gail (Tony) Coker Jones, Tina Coker Johnson, Pam Coker Podelski; one brother, Wilson B. Coker Jr; wife, Deanie Coker; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends who were like family.
A service to celebrate Steven's life will be held Saturday, December 3rd, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Mitchell McDougle officiating. Music will be provided by Kenny Herron. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include, Bobby, Brandon and Bradley Coker, Michael and Turner Bates, Timothy and Trent Smith and Adam Gravitt.
The family will receive friends Friday December 2nd between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM at the funeral home and on Saturday, December 3rd from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour of 3:00 PM.
The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the Coker family.
