Shirley Meadows Carpenter, 81, a lifelong resident of Gordon County, departed this life on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Gordon Health Care following one year of declining health..
Mrs. Carpenter was born in Gordon County at Johnson-Hall Hospital on March 26, 1943, the daughter of the late Ralph Eugene Meadows and Mary Frances Adcox Meadows. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Shaw Industries for 25 years as plant supervisor. She enjoyed making her home at Catoosa Village and was an avid White Water Junction Fan.
Survivors include her daughters, Holly (Dennie) Roberts and Lisa (Todd) Beck; son, Norman Carpenter; sister, Jan Meadows; brother, Melvin (Linda) Meadows; several grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
It was Mrs. Carpenter's request to be cremated with no formal services held.
