Sharon Kay McGinnis Parker, 69, of the Sonoraville Community departed this life on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at AdventHealth – Gordon following a three-year battle with cancer.
Sharon was born in Calhoun, Georgia on December 18, 1956, the daughter of the late Troy McGinnis and Shirley McDougle.
She was a member of the 1975 graduation class of Calhoun High School, and prior to retirement, she was employed by Wal-Mart Corporation for 22 years, and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Sharon was always up for an adventure and loved traveling, especially hiking and spending time at the beach. She cherished the time she spent with her siblings, Supper Club Yayas and Sassy Sisters. Sharon also had a deep love for sports, whether she was playing softball herself or cheering from the stands at the many sporting events of her children and grandchildren. Above all, Sharon’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Wayne Parker; two daughters, Amber Parker Martin, and her husband Garrett, Chrissy Parker Bryant, and her husband William; son, Kevin Parker and his wife Jamie; grandchildren, Blade Bryant, Brantley Bryant, Avery Martin, Mason Martin, Jackson Parker, and Chandler Smith; sisters, Cynthia McGuire (Greg), and Marie Hurst; brothers, David McGinnis (Donna), and Gary McGinnis (Cindy); along with a host of other relatives.
A service to celebrate the life of Sharon McGinnis Parker will be held Friday, April 24, 2026, at Trinity Baptist Church, 1170 Rome Road SW, Calhoun, Georgia at 1:00 PM with Chris Taylor, and Eddie Brannon officiating. Music will be arranged by Richie Parker, Leah Roach, and Valerie Taylor. Burial will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers’ service will include Blade Bryant, Brantley Bryant, Jackson Parker, Chandler Smith, Jeremy Bryant, and Jason McGuire. The Supper Club Yayas will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 23rd between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM at Trinity Baptist Church.
