Sandra Marlene Moon

Mrs. Sandra Marlene Mitchell Moon, age 70 of Calhoun, died Saturday August 6, 2011 in Gordon Hospital following several years of declining health. She was born in Hartwell, GA on September 2, 1940, daughter of the late William Taft Mitchell and Edna Louise Fain Mitchell. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Bryan Lee Rayburn, and a brother, Gerald Mitchell.

During her professional career she was a Human Resources administrator, but her favorite career was that of being a homemaker, faithful wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed her flowers, sewing, listening to her favorite music, and reading her Bible each day. Mrs. Moon was a member of Riverview Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Moon of Calhoun; five daughters, Lisa Timms and her husband Tony of Calhoun, Sandra Rowe and her husband Donald of Fernandina Beach, FL, Kristie Adcock and her husband Marvin of Calhoun, Melanie Davis and her husband Tony of Calhoun, and Wendy Dodd and her husband Byron of Chattanooga, TN; ten grandchildren, Eric Bohannon, Jesse Timms, Josh McClain, Kayle Davis, Chelsea Dodd, Alyssa McClain, Madison Dodd, Katie Rowe, Blake Davis and Amber Adcock; a brother, Sam Mitchell of Farmington, GA; two aunts, Myrtle Adams and Jean Kellum; and nieces and nephews, Tommy Mitchell, Stanley and Tara Mitchell, and Shea Mitchell. A host of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sandra Marlene Moon will be held on Tuesday, August 9th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Jamie Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery, with Rev. Terry Timms in charge of the committal service. Active pallbearers will include Tommy Mitchell, Craig Parris, Byron Dodd, Donald Rowe, Houston Dutton, and Fredrick McCall. Deacons of the Riverview Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home.
