Obituary
Mrs. Ruth Williams Hill, of the New Town community, passed away Monday, February 25, 2019 at her home. She was born in Fulton County, GA on December 10, 1929, daughter of the late Ernest and Amelia Robertson Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, E.C. Hill, to whom she was married for over fifty years.
Ruth loved her family very much. She was the oldest member of New Town Baptist Church, and loved her church and church family. Ruth served thirty-five years as Sunday School secretary, and served almost every position in the WMU. She was a faithful member of the church choir. Ruth liked to prepare food for every need in the church. She loved to send cards, and liked to travel, especially on cruises.
Survivors include her daughter, Regina Hill Dobson and friend, Randy Sutherland; her grandchildren, Shane and Nakia Rice, Hillery and Stephen Williams, and Mickey and DeShea Young; her great-grandchildren, Aimery Anderson, Dean and Callie Rice, Jasper Williams, Noah and Kallie Williams, and Parker and Meghan Young; and her sisters, Elsie Williams of Calhoun, and Barbara Cornett of Hiram.
Services to honor the life of Mrs. Ruth Williams Hill will be held Wednesday, February 27th at 2:00 PM from New Town Baptist Church, with Rev. Walter Hare and Rev. Greg Williams officiating. Music will be arranged by the church choir. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Shane Rice, Stephen Williams, Chad Smith, Mark Cornett, Kenneth Charvet, and Mickey Young. Honorary pallbearers are Joel Williams, Margaret Dean, Charles and Jean Harris, Brenda and Eddy Watkins, Barbara and Jimmy Gee, Nancy Haley, Debbie Gray, Loretta Poarch, Ruths Sunday School Class, the Joy Group, and all deacons of the church.
The family will receive friends at New Town Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 26th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and again on Wednesday, February 27th from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, Ruth had requested contributions be made in her honor to New Town Baptist Church.
