Ronnie Lewis Haggard

Mr. Ronnie "Ron" Lewis Haggard, 72, of Calhoun, Georgia passed away on March 10, 2023 in AdventHealth Gordon following a period of declining health. Mr. Haggard was born in Rome, Georgia on March 31, 1950, son of the late Lewis Haggard and Ruby Parm Daigrepont.


He was a graduate of St. Augustine High School; and entered the military serving with the United States Marine Corp. He attained the Rank of Sergeant having served in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, 2 over-sea Bars, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Rifleman M16, Navy Achievement Medal with V Device and was attached to Hawk Fire Control as a Crew Member for 10 years. He was a member of USMC Lima 3/7; was a member of South Calhoun Baptist Church; enjoyed hunting, camping, and spending time with family. He was previously employed by Lake Doctor Inc. in Florida as a Lake Management Specialist and in 1998 he and his wife, Linda opened Lakeshore Aquatics Inc and operated it until he retired in 2012.


He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Linda Worley Haggard; children, Cheron Haggard, Corey Haggard, Amy King Stewart (Jody), and Pepper King Smith (Brent); grandchildren, Luke and Zane Stewart, Eli Smith, Ila Paolini, and Brody Haggard.


There will be a service to celebrate the life of Ronnie (Ron) Lewis Haggard on Tuesday, March 14th at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Pace and Rev. Clifford Free officiating. Eulogist will be Mr. Johnny Batchelor. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery with Rev. Brent Smith conducting the graveside service. Full military honors will be accorded by the USMC Honor Guard. Pallbearers serving will include, Jody Stewart, Luke Stewart, Zane Stewart, Eli Smith, Corey Haggard and Billy Stewart. Honorary escort will consist of the members of USMC Lima 3/7.


The family will receive friends on Monday, March 13th between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, March 14th between the hours of 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM at the funeral home.


The family ask that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Ron's memory to the South Calhoun Baptist Church Building Fund, Post Office Box 552, Calhoun, GA 30703.
