Obituary

Roger Dale "Paw Paw" Serritt, 69 of Calhoun, Georgia passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, Georgia.
He was born on August 1, 1952, in the old Johnson-Hall Clinic in Calhoun, Georgia to the late Mack D. Serritt and Lonnie Mae Talley Serritt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Rev. G.D. Blackmon. Roger was a member of New Town Baptist Church.
Roger was a member of the 1970 graduating class of Calhoun High School. After high school, he attended Dalton State College and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration. He established Calhoun Farm Supply in 1973 and spent 43 years there where he enjoyed making many, many, friends until his retirement three years ago.
Roger was an adult Sunday School teacher for 30 years and was an Ordained Deacon and took great pride in that, but most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He was a wonderful husband, Dad, and Paw Paw to Jurnee who brought him much joy and Peppie his little fur buddy.
Survivors include his wife, Shyrel Blackmon Serritt to whom he was married for 49 years; his children, Joshua Cody Serritt and Kristina Marinda Serritt; granddaughter, Jurnee Kace Clark; little fury companion, Peppie; brothers, Nathan Serritt and Ricky Serritt; mother-in-law, Willene Blackmon, and many other relatives and friends.
A service to celebrate the life of Roger Dale Serritt will be conducted on Wednesday, October 13th at 4:00 PM from New Town Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Brannon, Rev. Walter Hare, and Rev. Jonathan Blackmon officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. The music will be arranged by Stacy Bradford. Pallbearers serving will include, Tommy Shanahan, Eddie Blackmon, Harry Darby, Denny Cozzart, Danny Lovinggood, and Max Mashburn. Honorary pallbearers include his honorary pastor, Rev. William Roberts, Boyd and Norma Highfield, Joe and Ruth Powell, Max and Faye Mashburn, Judy Mulkey, Kyle Lovinggood, and Carol Quinn.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, October 13th at Newtown Baptist Church from 2:00 PM until the funeral hour of 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Rogers favorite charity in his memory, St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or on their website: www.stjude.org/donate.
