Red was a local businessman in the community for many years. He was co-owner of the original Napa Auto Parts store for several years. He then purchased the Standard Oil Agency distribution center in Calhoun, opened the Calhoun Auto Parts store, and contracted and built several homes and buildings around Calhoun. His goal was to always provide for his family to the best of his ability.

He loved his cars, gardening and growing tomatoes to share with family and friends, watching the Braves, and fishing. He especially enjoyed boating and water skiing where he and his family and friends spent many summers enjoying Lake Allatoona and Carters Lake. Family and friends were very important to him and he always wanted to help them in any way he could.
