Obituary

Mr. Richard Franklin Cordell, 79, of Dallas, Georgia, and formerly of Calhoun, died suddenly at his residence following a heart attack on Monday, June 7, 2021
Richard was born in Lafayette, Georgia on May 31, 1942, son of the late Franklin Sylvanus Cordell and Mary Lou Willingham Cordell. He was a member of the 1960 graduating class of Lafayette High School, was a Mason and Shriner. Prior to retirement he was employed by Shaw Industries as a Truck Driver. He was a member of Burnt Hickory Baptist Church in Powder Springs.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Grogan Cordell to whom he was married for 9 years; son, Chase Cordell of Lafayette, Georgia; step-son, Jason (Rachael) Hunton of Rome; sister and brother-in-law, Dianne and Terry Hicks of Calhoun; grandchildren, Logan and Wyatt Hunton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Billy and Debbie Grogan and Ken and Cathy Brown nieces, Stacey Abernathy and Patti Gilmer and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Richard Franklin Cordell will be conducted Thursday evening at 7:00 PM from Trinity Baptist Church with Rev(s) Jerry Adair and Eddie Brannon officiating. Music will be arranged by Jonathan Grogan. Interment will follow on Friday, June 11th at 11:00 AM at Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include, John Ashley, Logan Hunton, Wyatt Hunton, Jake Abernathy, Grant Gilmer, Billy Grogan, Randy Abernathy, Joey Ventre and Thomas Schwartz. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Hicks and Ken Brown.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 10th at Trinity Baptist Church between the hours of 4:00 PM until the funeral hour of 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 10 Glenlake Pkwy, Suite 400, Atlanta, Georgia. 30328.
