Reecie Howell Harris

January 4, 1929 — April 22, 2007

Mr. Reecie Howell Harris, age 78, of Calhoun, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Redmond Regional Medical Center following several weeks of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on January 4, 1929, son of the late James Aubrey and Sallie Dell Thornbrough Harris. Mr. Harris was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He served his country during the Korean conflict in the US Army, and was retired as a machinist with Lockheed Corporation.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons; David Lynn Harris and Michael Harris; a brother; James Harris, Jr., and sisters, Mabel Harris, Zeta Bell Faith, and Francis (Frankie) Stanfield.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann Bell Harris; two sons, Rickey Harris and his wife Wanda, and Tim Harris and his wife Denise, both of Calhoun; a daughter; Shelia Ogletree and her husband Steve of Calhoun; a sister, Judy Bailey and her husband Charles of Calhoun; four grandchildren; Racey Harris, Layla Towers, Derrick Davis, and Chloe Harris; and four great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Reecie Harris will be conducted Tuesday, April 24, at 4:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Lamar Bearden officiating. Music will be arranged by Julie Harris. Interment will follow in the New Zion Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Racey Harris, Derrick Davis, Butch Harris, Brian Towers, Tommy Faith, and Charles Bailey. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Tuesday at 3:15pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mr. Harris' name to the New Zion Cemetery Fund, 1050 Roland Hayes Parkway, Calhoun, GA 30701.
