Obituary

Mr. Ray Grogan, 85, of the Harris Beamer Road Community, Calhoun, died early Tuesday morning August 31, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Ray was born in Cumming, Georgia on February 27, 1936, son of the late Lamon and Clyde Smith Grogan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Baldwin; brothers, Rupert Grogan and James Grogan; sister-in-law, Edna Reece; and brothers-in-law, Dennis Whitfield and Danny Baldwin.
He had lived and worked in Gordon County the greater part of his life, having been employed by Roy Davis Chevrolet.He owned and operated Ray's Grocery for more than 40 years, was a farmer, and enjoyed gardening and selling the produce he grew. He was well known in the community as a hard worker.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Betty Stamey Grogan; daughter, Teresa (Robert) Taylor; grandchildren, Keri Shaw (Matt Staples) and Eric (Kelli) Shaw; sisters, Nancy (Jim) Luckett and Millie Whitfield; brother, L.C. (Janie) Grogan; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jim Reece, Sharon Grogan, and Hannalore Grogan. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Ray Grogan will be held Friday, September 3rd at 2:00 PM, from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Randy Fouts, Brian Grogan, and Amos Winters officiating. Music will be arranged by Amos Winters, Whit Goble, and Amy Padgett. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery with Rev. Rick Langston officiating. Pallbearers serving will includeTrey Goble, Austin Medders, Michael Brown, Jeremy Barnes, Terry Holden, Gregorio Cortes, Whit Goble, and Case Medders. Honorary pallbearers will include nephews, great-nephews and members of the Georgia State Patrol.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 2nd at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
