Calhoun

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Chang, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and resident of Calhoun, Georgia. Paul left this world on November 29th, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and community spirit that will be remembered forever.

Born in Fengyuan, Taiwan in 1937, Paul graduated college with an English degree before immigrating to the United States in 1963 to enroll at the University of Dayton, Ohio, where he earned a degree in business administration. After 10 years of working in accounting at the State Farm Insurance district office in Marshall, Michigan, he moved his family to Georgia to manage Duffy’s Motel North and Restaurant owned by his father-in-law.

In 1983, Paul fulfilled a dream of self-employment by taking ownership of the Yellow Jacket Drive-In in Calhoun. This establishment was a cherished gathering place for locals, a testament to Paul's dedication to fostering relationships within the community. For 34 years, he served not only delicious meals, but also a sense of belonging and camaraderie to all who crossed the threshold of the restaurant. He would often turn the grill back on if someone arrived to order food after closing time. Paul also served as a member of the Lions Club. His genuine kindness, infectious smile, and unwavering commitment to making his community a better place endeared him to all who had the pleasure of meeting him.

In his 56-year marriage to Linda, he found unwavering support, companionship, and enduring love. Their partnership was a shining example of commitment, and their love created a foundation for a family that Paul cherished deeply.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Linda Chang and their children; Terry Chang and wife Janet of San Jose, CA; Jerry Chang and wife Joanna of Marietta, GA; Jeff Chang and wife Melissa of Irvine, CA; Raymond Chang of Calhoun, GA; and grandchildren, Kaela, Kaeson, Hannah, Matthew, Thomas, Alexis, and Nicholas.

Paul's memory will be forever cherished by his family, friends, and the community he served and respected. His absence will be keenly felt by all those who were touched by his kindness.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, Dec 3rd from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Max Brannon and Sons funeral home in Calhoun, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.

The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of Paul Chang.
