Mr. Noah Allen Kilgore, 93, of Ranger, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017 at his home, surrounded by family. He was born in Marietta, GA on March 10, 1924, son of the late Noah Benjamin Kilgore and the late Nellie Chalker Kilgore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Lee Kilgore, and his sister, Janie Cobb, both of Marietta.
Noah was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army in the 134th AAA Gun Battalion. He served in central Europe, Ardennes, Rhineland, and received several medals as an Anti-Aircraft Artillery Gun Crewman. Noah retired from Lockheed in Marietta after 36 years. He was an active member of his church, Holiness Church of Jesus Christ, where he loved to play piano and sing, and was also a member of the American Legion.
He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Inez Brookshire Kilgore; his children, Susan Gossett and her husband William, of Dallas, GA, Allen Lee Kilgore of Ranger; and Lisa Joy Royer; his granddaughters, Misty Inez Baxter and her husband, Brandon, Lindsey Nichole Watkins and her husband, Mike, and Autumn Noel Royer; and his great-grandsons, William Spencer Baxter, Chase Patrick Baxter, Noah William Watkins, and Lincoln David Watkins. Several nieces and nephews, and his fur baby, "Tanzie", also survive.
Services to honor the life of Mr. Noah Allen Kilgore will be held Thursday, May 4th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Junior Craig and Pastor Hershel Pierce officiating. Music will be arranged by Faye Pierce-Bentley. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers serving will include Brandon Baxter, Mike Watkins, Will Baxter, Mike Kirby, Shaun Sutherland, and Coy Parker. Honorary pallbearers are Sam Brookshire, Barry Cobb, Roy Pierce, and Chase Baxter.
The Kilgore family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 2nd, and Wednesday, May 3rd, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
