Nell Smith Boston

Mrs. Nell Smith Boston, age 92, of Calhoun, died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Gordon Health Care Nursing Home. She was born May 9, 1914. Nell was the oldest daughter of the late Sam and Elsie Smith. In addition to her parents, Nell was preceded in death by her brothers Hoke, Sanford, R.L. (Shorty), Luke, and George Smith, all of Calhoun, and her sister, Lois Bagley. She was a homemaker and loved to work with her flowers, and was a member of New Town Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter Geraldine Boston, her youngest sister Kate Cash of Salem, Oregon, and her sisters-in-law Mable Barton, Barbara Smith, Alice Smith, and Louise Smith-Nelson. Surviving nieces and nephews include Cheryl Jones, Jane Watkins, Sarah Pearson, Tommy Smith, Judy Peterson, Kathy Gimber, Tony Smith, Deborah Ashbey, Robbie Cox, Yvonne Fuquea, Luther Bagley, Jr., Carter and Anthony Smith and the late Warren Smith and his sister Francis Nichols. Nell was survived by over 30 great nieces and nephews, and 20 great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nell Boston will be conducted at 2:00pm on Sunday, March 11, 2007, from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Pearson officiating. Music will be arranged by Elsie Williams and Loretta Poarch. Interment will follow in the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Tommy Smith, Kevin Smith, Heath Smith, Carter Smith, Anthony Smith, and Kenny Fuquea. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home on Sunday at 1:15pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 10 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
