Melinda Diane Goodnight Duvall, 59, of Calhoun died peacefully Sunday morning, August 1, 2021, at her residence while surrounded by her loving family.
Melinda was born in Gordon County, Georgia on June 23, 1962, the daughter of the late Eugene and Virginia Wylene Goodnight. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Duvall in October of 2018.
She was a member of the 1981 graduating class of Calhoun High School and prior to retirement, she was employed by the Ann Jones Pre-school at Calhoun First Baptist Church as Librarian.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Erin and Jacob Hyder of Calhoun; son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Amanda Duvall of Calhoun; grandchildren, Tessa and Millie Hyder; aunt, Charlotte Stewart; Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lester and Ann Duvall, Randy and Judy Duvall, Debbie Duvall and Truman Whitfield, Linda and Tony Nix, Teresa and Rick Dempsey, Chris and Dennis Petty; other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Melinda Diane Goodnight Duvall will be conducted Wednesday, August 4th at 12:00 Noon from New Town Baptist Church with Pastor Walter Hare officiating. Music will be arranged by the New Town Trio. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery with Deacons of New Town Baptist Church serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include staff of Ann Jones Pre-school, Vickie Warren, Stacy Bennett, Suzanne Edwards, Kathy Blalock, Beth Kean, and Judie Goins.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, August 3rd between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM at Newtown Baptist Church and on Wednesday, August 4th from 11:00 Am until the funeral hour of 12:00 Noon.
