Melba Faye Land

Melba “Faye” Land, 85, of Resaca, Georgia, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026. She was born on September 17, 1940, to the late Jim and Mabel McRee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Land; brothers, Vernon McRee, Larry McRee, and Kenneth McRee.

She is survived by her son, Ricky Land; sisters, Joyce Green, Wanda Johns (Randy), and Patsy Smith; grandchild, Heather Johnson (Brandon); great-grandchildren, Ellie Johnson, Makenna Turner, and Shyla Turner. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She enjoyed singing and listening to Southern Gospel music. Fo many years, her ministry was helping with the weekly church service at the local nursing homes. She loved to sing in the choir at her church and attending Gospel Music concerts. Her regular attendance at the Oostanaula Community Center was the highlight of her week, assisting with fund raisers and being involved in the cake walk. She won a lot of cakes and gave most of them away.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Faye’s lifelong friend, Jay Johnston, for his 40 years of unwavering friendship and love to her.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Newtown Baptist Church.

The funeral service will follow on Wednesday, at 1:00 PM from Newtown Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jay Johnston, Jimmy McRee, Shane Swift, Spud McRee, Gary Pettit, and Anthony Blackstock. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie McRee, Jamie Tatum, and Justin Smith.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
