Obituary

Matthew Joshua Darby, 30, of Perry, Georgia formerly of Calhoun went to be with his Lord on Saturday, August 28, 2021, in Houston Medical Center from complications associated with COVID-19.
Matthew was born in Whitfield County, Georgia on April 9, 1991, son of Harry and Kathy Pass Darby. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis and Joy Darby, Kenneth and Betty Pass; aunts and uncles, Larry and Edna Darby, and Linda Brubaker.
He was a member of the 2009 graduating class of Gordon Central High School, 2011 graduate of Northeast Oklahoma A&M, 2015 graduate of the University of Georgia with a Major in Agriculture and Animal Science. Prior to his death, he was a Vocational Agriculture teacher at Northside High School in Warner Robins, Georgia where he was the coach for the Livestock Judging Team and served as an advisor to the Future Farmers of America (FFA).
Survivors include his loving wife, Haley Cook Darby, parents, Harry and Kathy Pass Darby; mother-in-law and father-in-law; Mark and Cindy Cook; aunts and uncles, Steve and Tammy Moraitakis, Joe and Martha Darby, and Barry Brubaker; cousins, Alicia Darby, Maria (Patrick) Scott, Jody Darby, Haley (Mike) Jones, Darby Moraitakis, Katie Beebe, Monte and Mason Moraitakis, Gage Darby, Sebastian and Olivia Beebe, Jennifer Brubaker, Joshua (Lex) Brubaker, and other relatives.
A service to celebrate the life of Matthew Joshua Darby will be held Friday, September 3rd at 4:00 PM at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Steven Cochran and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow the service at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Drew Elrod officiating. Pallbearers serving will include, Eric Hickox, Chandler Akins, Jacob Holmes, Cody Day, Kiefer Scroggins, and Bryce Williams.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 2nd at Salem Baptist Church between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM and on Friday from 3:00 PM until the funeral Hour. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and for the safety of yourself and others, masks are required to be worn during the visitation and funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be given in Matthews memory to the Northside High School Livestock Program, 926 Green Street, Warner Robins, GA 31093.
