Obituary

Mary Lee Black, 73, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022. She was born on April 17, 1949, to the late Chester Higgins and Minnie Smith Higgins Higdon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Rodney Talley; brothers and sisters-in-law, CM Higgins, Johnny and Irene Higgins, and Edward Higgins; brothers-in-law, Fletcher Jackson and H.L. Kirby; and step-father, Baxter Higdon.
Prior to retirement, she was employed by the Calhoun Board or Education, Gordon County Board of Education and Gordon Health Care in the custodial department.
She was a loyal and loving wife, always supporting her husband as he pastored churches; caring and loving mother and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Rev. Carl Jimmy Black; son and daughter-in-law, Carl Jimmy Black Jr. and Bridgette Black; daughters and sons-in-law, Janet Sue and Rex Burchette, Tabitha and Jeff Gallman, Sara and Russell Holbert, Sherry Talley, Valerie and Chris Burchfield; sisters, Betty Jackson and Shirley Kirby; grandchildren, Coty Stanley, Jennifer Jones, Calob Stanley, Brooke Green, Brianna Talley, Regan Bell, Rachel Holbert, Nathan Holbert, Nicolas Holbert, Benjamin Gallman, JoAnna Gallman, Hannah Burchfield, Hunter Burchfield, Haven Burchfield, Bree Black, Ari Black, Sky Wooten, Angelic Wooten, Jessy Hill; great-grandchildren, Braxton Jones, Isabella Grace, Zailyn Stanley, and Brentley Hill; sister-in-law, Mary Higgins.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Sanford and Rev. Jerry Green officiating. Burial will follow in The Full Bible Church near Carbondale, GA.. Pallbearers serving will include Marys grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 10, 2022, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home
