Marvin Weaver

August 13, 1909 — January 18, 2007

Mr. John Marvin Weaver, age 97, of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2007, at Gordon Health Care. He was born in Gilmer County on August 13, 1909, son of the late Ashael (A.L.) and Nettie Thompson Weaver. Mr. Weaver was retired from Lockheed Corporation and was a member of Eastgate Baptist Church.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 64 years on January 8, 2000, Pearl Silvers Weaver; brothers; Lester, Willard, Larkin, George, Oran, and Omar Weaver; and sisters; Ida Weaver, Dora Moss, and Verbie Weaver.

Survivors include a son, Charles E. Weaver of Resaca; three daughters; Hazel Bagwell, Carolyn Perry, and Marilyn Hice, all of Calhoun; two brothers; C.L. Weaver and Sala Weaver, both of Fairmount; and a sister; Vennie Watkins of Calhoun. Seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. John Marvin Weaver will be conducted at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 20, 2007, from the Eastgate Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Rogers and Rev. Clay Stephens officiating. Mr. Weaver will lie in state at the church from 1:00pm until the funeral hour. Music will be arranged by the church choir. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Chuck Weaver, Michael Hice, Todd Hice, Adrian Hice, John Bagwell, Greg Weaver, Jerry Bowen, and Gene Bowen. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Saturday at 12:15pm. Honorary pallbearers will include Robert Craig and the men of Eastgate Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Friday between the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00pm.
