Marie Cooke

Mrs. Marie Bowman Cooke, age 74, of Plainville, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2006. She was born in Cherokee County, Alabama, daughter of the late Raymond H. and Venice Cleveland Bowman. She had spent most of her lifetime in Gordon County in the Plainville community, and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Mrs. Cooke was preceded in death by a son, Terry LaDon Cooke, on September 18, 2003.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, L.C. Cooke; four brothers; Raymond Bowman and his wife Pat of Shannon, William J. Bowman and his wife Charlotte of Fairmount, Ralph Alton Bowman of Shannon, and Jerry Bowman and his wife Kerry of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; one sister; Debbie Poole and her husband Ricky of Kennesaw; four sister-in-laws; Joyce Greeson, Betty Kinman, Sue Lane, and Carolyn Wiggley. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Cooke will be held on Tuesday, October 3, at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev(s) Gene Clark and Richard Webster officiating. Interment will follow in the Scott Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Greg Bowman, Phillip Bowman, Gregory Bowman, Vaughn King, Sammy Brown, Leon O'Neal, Doug Fowler, and Virgil Storey. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:15pm. Honorary pallbearers will include Sharon McEntyre, Jimmy Gravitt, J.B.Garland, and Wyman Autry. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm.

Family owned and operated Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home of Calhoun is in charge of conducting the funeral services for Mrs. Marie Cooke of Plainville.
