Linda Young

Obituary

Linda was born in Peoria, Illinois on August 5, 1942, and went to be with her Lord on August 25, 2022. She was raised and schooled in nearby Morton, Illinois. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robert Marquardt of North Carolina. She is survived by her husband Jay Young of Calhoun, GA, daughter Kelly (Dana) Daniel of Arvada, CO, daughter Jodi (Allen) Twidell of Walnut, IL, and daughter Jena (Larry) Young-Schupbach of Kewanee, IL, son Alan (Kelly) Fairchild of Prescott, AZ, son Scott (Niki) Andris of Kewanee, IL, son Jason Young of Kewanee, IL, and sister Denise (Richard) Godel of Franklin, TN.
Linda and Jay met while they were both employed at the Bureau County Sheriff's Department in Princeton, IL. Jay frequently tells people that they met in jail and follows that with 'It makes a better story'. They were married August 7, 1982, and for the past forty years have enjoyed their blended family of six children, 17 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild. Linda looked forward to family visits, although during the past several years, medical issues had prohibited travel and she would rely on family visiting her in Georgia.
She also enjoyed her collection of antiques, roosters, and glassware. She would justify their existence by telling family and friends that they were almost all garage sale finds.
Linda enjoyed attending Bethesda Baptist Church and helping briefly in the kitchen on Wednesday nights. Most of all she enjoyed the people of Bethesda and the friendships she developed there over the years.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 1:00 pm from Bethesda Baptist Church with Pastor Wesley Hunt officiating. Interment will be in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery at a future date.
Linda wishes were for cremation. The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of Linda Young.
