Linda Lou Cooper

Linda Casey Cooper, 84, of the New Town Community passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Atrium Floyd Medical Center in Rome following a period of declining health.

Mrs. Cooper was born in Calhoun, Georgia on March 10, 1939, the daughter of the late Ed and Eula Holt Casey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Richard Cooper, July 27, 2014; a sister, Marie Casey; six brothers, Elbert, George, Bobby, Hubert, Dennis, and Jimmy Casey.

She attended Resaca School and being a child of a farming family, she had to stop attending classes and go to work. Later she was proud to receive her General Education Diploma from the Georgia Department of Education. Prior to retirement she was employed by Fafnir Corporation in Calhoun. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, loved flowers, being with her family, and was a member of New Town Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Cindy (Jack) White of Rincon, Georgia, Sonja (Allen) Coffey of Calhoun, Georgia; son, Richard Cooper of Calhoun; grandchildren, Timothy Cooper, Derick Cooper, Jeremy White, Casey White, Emily White, Allison Coffey, and Cooper Coffey; great-grandchildren, Patrick Cooper, Savannah Abston, Josh White, Walter Cooper, Elizabeth Cooper, and Ginger Cooper; sister, Juanita DeLee of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; brother, Allen Casey of Calhoun, Georgia, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A service to celebrate Linda’s life will be held Sunday, October 22, 2023 at 5:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Eddie Brannon officiating. Music will be arranged by the New Town Baptist Church Singers. Interment will follow the funeral service on Monday, October 23, 2023 at Haven of Rest Memorial Park beside her late husband, Marvin Richard Cooper. Pallbearers serving will include Casey White, Timothy Cooper, Derick Cooper, Cooper Coffey, and Greg Black.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 22nd beginning at 3:00 PM until the funeral hour of 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
