Leonard Jerry McGaskey

Leonard Jerry McGaskey, 79, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023. He was born on January 4, 1944, to the late Robert and Gertrude McGaskey. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ethel Cope and Gay McGaskey, and son-in-law, Dennis Morris.

Leonard worked for Mannington as a machine mechanic for 20 years and the Dixie Group prior to retirement. He loved John Wayne and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Betty McGaskey; sons, Michael (Audra) James, Barry (Ruth) James, Patrick (Beth) James, J.R. Henson; daughters, Kadie Mae Morris, Margie Bridges, Miranda Thurman, Thelma (Gerald) Culberson, Melonie (Leamon) Smith, Holli Chamlee; brother, Larry McGaskey; sisters, Shirley Gunn and Barbara White; grandchildren, Chris, Lisa, William, Cindy, Joey, Jessica, Alisha, Collin, Patrick, Preston, Peyton, Paizlee, Spencer, Corbin, Brandon, King, Jesse, Zack, Kate, Kolbey, Dakota L., Brittany, Kiersten, Dakota H., Devin, and Brooklin; multiple great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday October 22, 2023, at 3:00 PM from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Clark officiating.
