Rev. Knox A. Fite, age 75, passed away October 8 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 11, 1948 in Calhoun, Georgia to James Marvin Fite and Mozelle Moss Fite. He was retired from General Electric Company in Rome, Georgia where he was a designer and was also a retired minister and pastor. He also evangelized in several churches. He started out as a youth minister, Sunday School teacher, and had a nursing home ministry for several years. He was an associate pastor, then pastored two churches in Cartersville, Georgia and Canton, Georgia.

Knox was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Kevin Alan Fite. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Childers Fite; one daughter, Erin Clements and her husband, Bert of Dallas, Georgia; one brother, Jerry Fite and his wife Cynthia of Thomson, Georgia; one grandson, Chase Foster and his wife Erin of Norfolk, Virginia; one granddaughter, Anna Fite of Calhoun, Georgia; one great grandson, Bentley Goins; a brother-in-law and sister in law, Travis and Vickie Childers of Calhoun, Georgia; his Aunt Shirley Prather of Calhoun, Georgia and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Knox had a wonderful sense of humor, and loved to make people laugh and smile. He was an avid fisherman for several years. He also loved to hunt, read, and really loved to travel. He loved going places in the campers and motorhomes and spending winters in Florida. He loved to be involved in church, and most of all to preach and teach God’s Word. His travels included Hong Kong, China, Canada, Mexico, many US states including Hawaii, as well as cruises to most of the Caribbean and Central American countries.

            Services to honor his life will be held Wednesday, October 11 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. James W. Black and Rev. Dewayne Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Haven of Rest Mausoleum. Pallbearers serving include Bobby Cantrell, Clifford Crump, Buddy Davidson, Garry Moss, Henry Conner, and Mike Carroll.

            The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Tuesday, October 10 between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
