Kenny Herron

Mr. Kenneth L. (Kenny) Herron Jr, 63, of Calhoun, joined the Heavenly choir on Friday, September 1, 2023, in WellStar North Fulton Medical Center from injuries received from a fall.

Kenny was born in Pinehurst, NC., April 20, 1960, the son of Rachel Robinson Herron and the late Kenneth L. (Ken) Herron. He was a member of the 1978 graduating class of Calhoun High School and always remained a faithful follower of his Alma Mater, especially Yellow Jacket Football. 

In his life he was a welder, printing company manager, flooring salesman, and a pest control technician for Visa Exterminating.  He was also a singing server at the Station House Restaurant at the Chattanooga Choo Choo for years earning the title as the Singing Bugman. 

His true music love was gospel music.  He sang high tenor in various southern gospel quartets such as Eastern Sky, Golden Harvest, Southern Voices, the Newtown Baptist Quartet, and One Touch Quartet. He also led the choir at Heritage Baptist for a short time. 

He was a loyal Georgia Tech fan, a member of Club Y, and loved his family dearly.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Walker Herron; daughter, Alex Ray and her husband, Jason; son, Aspen York; mother, Rachel Robinson Herron; grandchildren, Jack, and Logan Ray; along with aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A service to celebrate Kenny’s life will be held Tuesday, September 5, at 1:00 PM from Heritage Baptist Church where he was a charter member. Pastor Shane Parrot and Pastor DaRon Henson will officiate. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will include Mike Hicks, Shane Hammond, Chuck Faulker, Jeff Rampy, Jason Ray, Stan McEntire; Honorary pallbearers are Roger Causby, Coleman Balliew, Miller Evans, Roy Woods, Darin Robinson, Lynn Herron, Loel McKinnon, Michael Haney, and Members of Club Y.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 5, between the hours of 11:00 AM and the funeral hour of 1:00 PM.
