In Loving Memory of Kathryn Louise Allen
Kathryn Louise Allen, 84, of Plainville, Georgia, passed away on October 14, 2026 peacefully departing this life to be reunited with the love of her life, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, deep devotion, and unconditional love for her family.
Born and raised in the Riverbend of Plainville, Georgia, she was the cherished daughter of the late Mark and Annie Lou Hensley. Growing up on the family farm, she learned the value of hard work early on, spending her days working in the fields, cooking side-by-side with her mama, and fishing on the river with her daddy. Plainville was always her home, and she deeply loved the life she built there.
On June 15, 1957, she married the love of her life, James "Jim" Robert Allen. Together, they built a beautiful, wonderful life and raised five children and had many grandchildren. They were blessed with 40 years of marriage until his passing in January 1998. Though she missed him terribly every single day, her love for him never waned, and her family takes comfort in knowing they are finally together again.
A dedicated provider, she worked hard for her family her entire life in the local carpet mills. She took great pride in her work and deeply cherished the lifelong friendships she made there.
Outside of work, she had a vibrant passion for life and nature. She loved being outdoors, whether she was camping and trout fishing with Jim and her family at Coopers Creek, or tending to her yard. She had a special love for flowers—especially red roses—and even completed a college course in flower arranging. She loved to travel, frequently taking trips to the mountains of Helen, Georgia, and Cherokee, North Carolina. She also enjoyed shopping, going out to eat, and celebrating the holidays. Thanksgiving and Christmas were her absolute favorite times of the year, where she was famous for making her legendary chicken and dressing, banana pudding, and peanut butter cake. She also found great joy in raising her beloved birds.
Above all, she was a wonderful mama, a loyal friend, and an all-around great person who would help anyone in need. She cared fiercely for her family and poured her entire heart into them. A special thank you to her son, Jeff, for calling to check on her. She cherished their wonderful conversations, the endless laughs, and the beautiful flowers and gifts he showered her with. He brought so much joy to her life."
Kathryn wanted to extend a very special and heartfelt thank you to her daughter, Misty Thacker, her son-in-law, William Thacker, her granddaughter, Madalyn Thacker, and her future grandson-in-law, Bryce McClure. Together, they took exceptional care of her, staying constantly by her side, never leaving her, and ensuring she always received the highest comfort, dignity, and best possible care. There was truly nothing they would not do for her and she was so grateful for that. A special thank you to Angela Duvall for her unwavering support and for always being there for Misty throughout this difficult journey. Also the family wishes to extend a deeply heartfelt, special thank you to Homespun Hospice
