Mrs. Karen McGrew, age 58 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at her residence following four months of declining health. She was born in Oregon, Illinois on May 1, 1951, daughter of Warren Hinton and the late Blanche Torissi Hinton. Mrs. McGrew enjoyed the outdoors and gardening, and had retired from Springs Industries.

Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Les McGrew; two sons, Stephen McGrew of Calhoun, and Jim Hannawell of Newton, Alabama; a sister, Angie Burrows; four grandchildren, Michaela McGrew, Samuel McGrew, Joseph McGrew, and James Hannawell, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Dave McGrew and his wife Cindy, Tom McGrew and his wife Georgie, Gary McGrew and his wife Tammy, and Mike Johnson and his wife Debbie, all of Illinois; and sisters-in-law, Terry Griffith and her husband Jeff, Linda Saxby and her husband Jim, all of Illinois, Barbara Lawrence of Indiana, Cheryl Lindsey and her husband Tim of Illinois, and Bonita Smith and her husband Roy of Indiana. Other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Karen McGrew will be conducted Saturday, February 13th at 11:00am from the graveside at the Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, with Les McGrew officiating. Active pallbearers will include Steve McGrew, Jim Hannawell, William Rampley, Tony Clay, and Luke Woodard. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 9:00am until 10:30am.
