Juanita Jones

Mrs. Juanita "JJ" Jones, age 85 of Calhoun passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in Rome. She was born in Gordon County on June 18, 1926, daughter of the late Benjamin and Ruby Hales Harrison. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, K.C. Jones, and a son, Lamar Jones.

Mrs. Jones was born and raised in the Red Bone Ridges of Gordon County, and was employed at the Hickory House and Johnny's Restaurant for 25 years. She loved bluegrass music and RFD TV. She was a member of the "Gossip Club" that met at Hickory House, and enjoyed family get-togethers and being around children.

Survivors include her children, Donald Leon Jones, Mandi Bridwell and her husband William, Karen Swanson, and Jeremy Jones and his wife Deborah, all of Calhoun; and two sisters, Geneva Stone of Dalton, and Yvonne Hawkins of Atlanta. Eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, six nephews, and three nieces also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Juanita "JJ" Jones will be held Friday, April 20th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Butler officiating. Music will be arranged by Kurt Sutherland. Interment will follow the service in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Walt Dunaway, Dewey Dunaway, Brian Worley, Harvey Harrelson, Bobby Howerton, and Bobby Arnold. These gentlemen are requested to assemble at the funeral home Friday at 1:15pm. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Worley, Raymond Barnette, George Bridwell, A.B. Sutherland, and James Thomas.

The Jones family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday after 5:00pm.
