Juanita Edwards

Juanita Gravitt Edwards, age 90, departed this life to be with her beloved Lord Jesus Christ on August 18th, 2026. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, George W. Edwards in 2005. Juanita is survived by her three children, Stephen Edwards and wife Kandi of Calhoun, Georgia, Celia Matherly and husband Skip of Rome, Georgia, and Elizabeth Ann Edwards of Calhoun, Georgia. She was also blessed with six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and very special nieces and nephews.

Juanita was born on October 5th, 1935, to B.G. and Beulah Gravitt. She was the youngest of four children, who all preceded her in death. A lifelong resident of Gordon County, Juanita grew up in the Red Bud community. She attended Red Bud schools and later Belwood High School, where she played varsity basketball. She was a faithful member of Belmont Baptist Church for over 60 years. After a period of declining health, Juanita became a resident of Brookdale Senior Living in Rome, Georgia.

Juanita Gravitt Edwards will be remembered for her deep love for her Savior and her faithful, loving care for her family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery.
